반기문 차기 유엔 사무총장이 14일 오전 11시30분(이하 현지시간) 뉴욕 유엔본부 총회장에서 취임선서를 했다.

"나, 반기문은 성심과 지각, 양심을 다해 유엔 사무총장으로서 부여된 역할을 수행할 것을, 오직 유엔의 이해에 부응해 이 같은 역할을 이행하고 직무를 통제할 것을, 본인의 직무 행위에 관한 한 어떤 정부나 또는 유엔 외부의 어떤 권력으로부터도 지도를 구하거나 받아들이지 않을 것임을 엄숙히 선서한다."

"I, Ban Ki-moon, solemnly swear to exercise in all loyalty, discretion and conscience the functions entrusted to me as Secretary-General of the United Nations, to discharge these functions and regulate my conduct with the interests of the United Nations only in view, and not to seek or accept instructions in regard to the performance of my duties from any Government or other authority external to the Organization.".

한편 반 차기총장은 지난 8일 뉴욕 유엔본부에서 열린 유엔출입기자단(UNCA) 송년 만찬에 참석해
'산타클로스 우리마을에 오시네' 캐롤을 아래과 같이 개사해 불러 참석자들에게 환호와 박수를 받았다.

"I'm making a list, I'm checking it twice,
I'm going to find out who's naughty or nice.
Ban Ki-Moon is coming to town."
